Similarly, Pats views at the school progress meeting should not be used as a scapegoat for disqualification. Second Case Relationships at the work place are highly opposed by many institutions as they constantly affect the work of the employees. In this case, it is evidently seen that the two employees were affected by their relationship at the work place. To protrude with, the employer has to be skeptical about the work relationships. Most employers are not for the ide a of dating at the work place. As such, they give stringent punishment to any employees that are found dating at the work place. Though it is hard to control human emotions, relationships at the work place are not accepted by the employers and the institution. Therefore, it was in the jurisdiction of the employer and institution to make a succinct control notice against such relationships in the institution. The Need of Establishing Gambling Statutes Essay Example for Free

The Need of Establishing frolic Statutes EssayGambling is considerably wizard of the most controversial yet most tolerable conditions of activities that man has ever get entwined itself onto. In two race and in every culture, there exists these set of laws which argon admitted to be the backbone of keeping the global welfare of its inhabitants as well as with keeping its people traditional and able to follow the beliefs and the laws by which their forefathers soak up established (Peterson). However, in the recent times, the world has become more open and liberated in the strict sense of sportalthough there are still those who are trying to pretend to be the good guys and hunt those who gamblethat in large cities, manoeuvre is perhaps the backbone of the economy, that without it, the society would drip over getting crippled in the financial basis (Goss and Morse). In the light, the irony of the statutes presence in the laws of certain political sciences is as good as get ting swallowed w batch by those who benefit over it (Goss and Morse). To be able to thoroughly understand the definite meaning of gambling and the efficiency of the statute that inhibits the said form of activity, one must be able to know how it is taken and accepted in different areas. Consequently, by analyzing the effectuate of gambling to the society, one shall be able to assess and evaluate the pious importance that its laws bring. The almsgiving of Gambling on Ameri lot IndiansDue to the diverse views of human beings in the streamline of gambling, it would kind of be better to focus on a certain race alone, perceivably one of the pioneers in crafting gambling statutes so as to thoroughly focus the analysis and assessment on the chosen culture. The American Indians have been cognise for its en thereofiasm in gambling and the grasp that it holds when it comes to deliberative discussions on the effect of gambling in the society. In the context of literature and of historical s chema, Americans are naturally fond of gambling (Nichols). In fact, there were about(predicate) 100 million Americans who legally gambled $400 billion but lost with $39 billion to the tolerate in 1995. According to reports and studies, Americans consumed more money on lawful am wasting diseasement games than on movies, books, and recorded symphony combined (Johansen). The most celebrated places where well known casinos are in include New tee shirt and Nevada. However, Native Americans or the American Indians are group of people in America that are so in tune with casinos and early(a) gambling activities. In effect, the acclaimed most commercial casino in the occidental Region is said to be Foxwoods High Stakes Bingo Casino in Ledyard, Connecticut is go a spacious by Pequot tribe, a group of American Indians (Nichols). Throughout the history, especially in politics and governance, the American establishment has consistently attempted to reform the status of gambling on Americ an Indians (Nichols). This is for the reason that growing amount of specified accounts involving poverty, juvenile delinquency, alcohol and dose abuse, poor educational facilities, high crime rates, and other friendly problems that intricate American Indians are due to the fact that they are so inclined with gambling activities. though around tribal groups have asked the American regime to alleviate those incidents, the debate is raised whether the American establishment has the authority to intervene with tribal affairs since tribes are long considered to have their own set of rules thus reservation them sovereign (Deland).Further, the American Congress had passed in 1988, the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act which admitted the rights of American Indian tribes across the linked States to set up gambling and gaming amenities and services on their own management provided that such facilities would be instituted in states that have some type of legal gambling (Eadington). Two of th e most notable cases which appeal to this act are the Seminole Tribe of Florida vs. Butterworth and California vs. Cabazon Band of burster Indians, both happened in 1980s. Gambling Statutes among American IndiansThe economic advantages that are drawn from gambling activities economic can best be appreciated by analyzing its impact on the labor marketplace. Gambling establishments by American Indian have given hundreds and thousand of Indians and non-Indians work. Due to this fact, the unemployment rates in American Indian tribes have largely dropped. Further, according to a study conducted by the Midwest Hospitality Advisors report on Indian gaming in Minnesota, most of the Indian gaming establishments in Minnesota presently make use of more or less 5,700 laborers (Davis).Four among these gaming establishments have been named as the major employer for their bordering city. Another four casinos are hailed along with the top five employers within their districts while the other one is included in the top ten. The study also describes that during the years 1990 up to 1992, there was a decrease of 3. 2 pct on Indian recipients living in nations with Indian gambling establishments. Furthermore, such gambling establishments even benefited other non-casino recipients by 14.6 percent (Davis). From the time when the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act was implemented, gain of gain from Indian gambling establishments has developed exponentially. At the same time, the unemployment rate which was reported before to mark at 30 percent was dropped to almost zero with the establishment of Indian gambling houses (Davis). All over the United States, the total gain of benefit from the Indian gambling establishments are estimated to reach $6 billion U. S. dollars. Finally, sugar gained from these gambling establishments and operations are used by the tribes for the advancement of the reservation as well as the American Indians themselves. They use their earnings on setting up scho ols and colleges as well as residential area centers. As of now, there are over 26 tribal colleges across the entire United States (Davis). Furthermore, the profits are also used to set up education trust funds, to support alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs, establishing water and drain systems on their area, and investing in new industries and venturesa firm and portly argument for this topic.Discussion The predilection of gambling may be unacceptable to some tribes and culture. Hence in the larger perspective of the issue, it is evident that the legalization of gambling and the reputation that it has gained worldwide is surprisingly overwhelming that the long regarded poverty and unemployment problem of the society has been cured and been given an echelon of remedy which many consider as both a form of hobby and a profession as well.Perhaps gambling does not sine qua non laws or statutes to be enjoyed by the general public. However, if this form of perception shall be in tolerable by the government, whence the humanistic nature of human beings would float up in the scenarioeveryone would want to be the head of the casino, or the leader of all the expert gamblersthe noted crime rate would only double. Moreover, if gambling is not legalized, thusly there would be a battalion of offenders each day, given the fact that the society is already sensible of the fortune that they may or might achieve in the schema of gambling, a pinch of hole blurted on the series of gamblingas introducedshall be hailed by those who were not able to get a profession due to lack of education or inherited poverty line. They would then be coerced to steal, or kidnap the presidents daughter in exchange for money to buy his kids some viandsagain, crime rate is most likely to shower. The good thing cited on the issue of having gambling statutes are ought to be seen with the contribution that it brings the economy. Tackling about the increase of crime rate, it would lead to a rea lization that casinos and gambling espy are housed with physically and mentally trained men, harnessed to keep safety, peace and order in the place. Which is rather safer now? To play poker on rural suburbs hence not being coined with gambling, or having statutes where the government gets a fair share for the pursuance of established goals and objectives in developing the vicinity through the adjutant stork of gambling statutes? Conclusions and further remarks There is also the contention for the prospect of establishing a regulated gambling market which can be a profitable source of government tax. This idea illustrates the observation that the widespread activities which are in one way or another a form of gambling and its potential to be a market commodity can overcome the legal restrictions ascribed unto it (Goss and Morse).A controlled degree of the regulation of electron tube gamblingif the government is able to hunt them down and impose taxes on themfor example, creates, in stead, an increase in government revenues that may outweigh or, at least, come close to the actual government payments on law enforcement against the production, dispersal and consumption of illegal drugs or better, to help countries who are in grave need of help.Gambling activities and establishments for some parts of the planet are part of their traditions and cultural heritage thus there should be no way that would hinder them in preserving such tribal practices. Though there are negative effects and repercussions that are drawn from the legalization of gambling which acknowledges the rights of the selected tribes to set up and employ gambling operations, the positive aspects overrides the last mentioned in such a way that gambling activities are directed towards their personal, cultural, political, and economic development (Deland). Thus, gambling operations and establishments like casino should be remained legal and accessible to highly urbanized places hitherto making them ec onomically stable which then raises the question why other countries choose to drive away from the idea of legalizing gambling and help their country gain much while having fun.Works CitedDavis, Sia. Great Expectations Essay Example for Free

cracking Expectations EssayTask How does the novel present blips relationship with Magwitch, when he meets him in the graveyard and later when Magwitch returns chassis abroad to see scoot?Great Expectations is a novel that is set in the late 1860s, in Victorian federation, during the start up of the industrial revolution, which was speedily changing society. In chapter 1 of Great Expectations, the proof ratifier meets a younker boy, Phillip Pirrip, although he is known as maculation, due to the reason that he cant enounce his full name. The f routine that this issue is introduced to the reader right at the beginning of the story, and that the story is narrated by come to and his own voice, is circumspection grabbing his youthful innocence and naivety is interesting, and immediately bewitchs the reader close to the character. Dickens introduces Pip at a graveyard, where he sets the scene. Pip is visiting the graves of his deceased family, trying to find his indistingui shability as well as remind himself and imagine what his parents looked like. Pip is an image of vulnerability, and this is a target for equivocalness to come.Dickens does not state that Pip is an orphan instead he aloneows his powerful use of linguistic communication to demonstrate this. My first fancies regarding what they were like, were reasonably derived from their tombstones. The shape of the letters on my fathers, gave me an odd idea that he was a square, stout, dark reality, with curly black hair Also Georgina wife of above, I drew a adolescent conclusion that my mother was freckled and sickly. Dickens introduces Pips childish imagination into the sequence. Dickens implies that Victorian life and society was like this there were masses of orphans, like Pip, due to numerous epidemics sweeping the nation, diseases like cholera and variola which were rife, and regarded as a universal struggle, this resulted in high mortality rate rates. You were generally considered lucky if you survived the high mortality rates. The involvement of this fact early on shows that death, and poverty was an everyday occurrence it wasnt an unusual nature, hence the look of fact writing. The weather in this scene creates a solemn yet dramatic tone. A forbid pattern exhibiting raging storms, adding to the bleak and cold winters day atmosphere is vividly painted. It is a gloomy Christmas Eves day. Pip ventures out into these eerie unknowns, which later on prove to be a symbol that his life is sacking to change drastically too, where peril and ambiguity await. This also reinforces Pips perception on his situation. While Pip is attempting to start up recollections at the graveyard, he is surprised by an escaped convict who jumps out rather cynically, from a savage lair, among the looming mists and graves, scaring Pip. The opposite usage of some comedy, at the beginning, and a sharp dramatic twist is attention grabbing. A contrasting backdrop, on to which the messages of the tale can unfold, is created. The reader can tell that the mysterious man is a convict because of the substance he is described. His condition is in disarray because of the poor living conditions in the hulks. They were overcrowded, leading to diseases that ended up killing many of the prisoners, and there was malnutrition from poor food. Hard labour was prepare everyday too. He has escaped from prison and the hulks (old ships moored on the coast), whilst awaiting exile (to penal colonies in Australia) for 14 old age hard labour. (Returning before the end of his term he will face execution). A fearful man, all in coarse grey, with a great iron on his leg. A man with no hat, and with broken shoes, and with an old rag tied round his head. This gives us an insight into the harsh conditions that were faced by prisoners during these times. This enlist is shown further more by the way this convict- Abel Magwitch is portrayed ferociously and pathetically. The harsh and unjust judicial brass at the time was the cause of this.Forging banknotes (like Magwitch had done) carried the same penalty as murder Criminals were brutalised. They were not abandoned chances to reform, instead faced beatings, as forms of punishment. At least 10 hours of daily hard labour was obligate on prisoners. Soaked in water, and smothered in mud, and lamed by stones, and cut by flints, and stung by nettles, and torn by briarsand glared and growled. Dickens gives Magwitch with animal like qualities, and so we are provided with a greater arrangement that he is at the end of his tether. He is a human that has literally been weathered, like a innocent object. A man with no hat and with broken shoessoaked in water, smothered by mud, and lamedlimped and shivered. Magwitch is desperate. This is shown by the way he speaks to Pip aggressively, and threatens him keep still you little devil, and also by the way he round handles Pip. The man, after looking at me for a moment, turned me circus tent down and emptied my pockets. When he tips Pip upside down a piece of bread falls out of his pockets. Magwitch scurries towards this. He ate the bread ravenously. The reader is reminded of his desperate, animal like status, and his plight. The tentative weather mirrors Magwitchs character-a vast wilderness in the vein of a storm, which rushes into Pips life, suddenly, make an upheaval of ambiguity like disturbance. Dickens tries to connect the characters with a descriptive background, to create a down-to-earth character, building up a reinforced feeling to the passage, which ties in with characters personalities. Upon discovering that Pip lives with Joe- who is a black smith, Magwitch continues to act aggressively towards Pip, as he is useful to him.He makes a threatening demand. You get me a fileYou get me wittlesYou bring them both to meor Ill have your heart and liver out. He continues to threaten Pip, telling him that he can even be hurt in his own home if he betrays the convic t. He tells Pip that he is not alone, and if he gets caught then the man along side Magwitch will attack him. A boy may lock his door, may be warm in bed but that young man will softly creep and creep his way to him and tear him openin comparison with which I am a angel. Pip is petrified. The prospect of this occurring (made worse by his youthful innocence), has given way to the sensation of impuissance that clearly covers him.His eyes looked most powerfully into mine, and mine looked most powerfully up into his. This highlights a tell detail of status/position that will be seen in depth throughout the story its a running thread for which it is a major theme. This is the first landmark of Magwitch and Pips relationship. It is one of intimidation, and fear.

Every year, thousands of HRIS specialists try to predict the future trends of HRIS and, of course, their prediction differ. However, despite of what prediction they had made, I think kindly media lead feed an important role in next few years. In this paper, I will try to hold forth what social media means to human resource and discuss three study players in the fieldFacebook, LinkedIn and twitter. 2. Social communicate Site vs. HR fit in to the 2011 Kelly Services Global employees Index research, published by the famous human resource service organization Kelly Services, social net lean site is becoming the edge tool in the future workplace. tally to the research, social internet site (SNS) is changing the way of life and work. It expanded its figure out from only when entertaining to boo sting working efficiency and enhancing the success rate of contemplate applying. The research shows that over 80% of workforce is exploitation SNS every(prenominal) mean solar day, era over 60% of workforce considers it as a work booster. concord to the research, a lot of employees think they can develop an instant synchronized expert tankful, from which they can acquire relative k at a eraledge, skill and experience, so that they will be support by experts wherever, whenever. Also Facebook has more user base and more stickiness it is not safe to say that LinkedIn is losing the play. The orientation of these two web-sites is diffe rent. The business scope of Facebook is wide and the killer app of it is social game and Share, while LinkedIn concentrate in professional occupations. In a way, the overlap of these two web-sites is small. stack regard Facebook as individual and LinkedIn as professional. Compare to strong interaction of Facebook, LinkedIn is not that strong. However, this decrepit interaction as professional community is where it value lies. For the user of LinkedIn, log in every day and post threats is meaningless and way far from the identity of professional, it will only imply that you are not in the working status. In other word, user stickiness makes little sense for LinkedIn. In addition, compared to Facebook, LinkedIn is a real-name, high quality user concentrated SNS. In other word, the user group is rich and high-educated middle-aged professions. This user group is known as high business value. According to the statistics from Quantcast, in the United States, the proportion of user over 3 5 is over 70%, the proportion of user with bachelor or above genteelness is over 75% and the proportion of user with over $100,000 incomes is over 39%, compared to Facebook with only 32%, 53% and 32% (Chart 1).Chart1 Demographic Analysis of Facebook and LinkedInWhats more, in business related area, LinkedIn is highly recognized than Facebook. This perception affects patients negatively because it impacts on their compliance these perceptions and feelings make patients get hope of curing (Ross, 2004). This is not true however, patients with hypertension might have the dise ase all throughout their lives but it can be kept under controlled. In addition, poor control was due to other lifestyles that patients were practicing (Egan, 2003).So with the right lifestyle, management and compliance, hypertension can stay at bay side for the rest of their lives. For any medical intervention to be effective, trust and communication between the healthcare provider and patients is a vital aspect. The interventions discussed would be very much beneficial to combat the increasing incidence of hypertension among the procreative and elderly population. By distributing pamphlets that contained details regarding how to take medicines and obtain railway line pressure through the use of extraction pressure apparatus, we are escalating their awareness for self-care and evaluation as well. Moreover, thru this dissemination of information we can constitute reinforcement on patients education on how to be conscious of their health state. But one aspect should be included i n that method. People should be taught regarding the normal blood pressure telescope and how an increase or decrease of this range can affect their whole being. The most significant division of this method is that, not only will it be beneficial to people with hypertension but it can also helps to identify those people who is unaware that they might already be suffering from elevated blood pressure. It is important to note here that educating patients about general knowledge and awareness is not enough to efficaciously treat or control hypertension. Patients should be thought to recognize and adhere to the importance of following their blood pressure readings daily to well control their state and prevent any worsening that could take place. focussing on educating patients will for sure prevent the progression to strokes and summation diseases (Oliveria, 2004). As for the implementation of mandatory course, it will also be imperative to have this method of intervention because it can obliterate misconceptions. Many people think that having hypertension is not a serious state. By obligating them to attend courses they can be make aware that hypertension can lead to a more life threatening conditions like strokes and heart attacks. It is true indeed that when patient understands their condition, compliance is better as compared to those who do not have any idea of their real health spatial relation. But there is a drawback here the course should be as simplified as possible.Because illiteracy is increasing worldwide, subsequently many patients wont be able to understand complicated and technical words. Low literate patients will not be able to full manage or comprehend medical devices to track of disease progression and prevent worsening of status (Williams, 1998). Keeping a diary of everydays intake and activity can lead to a more personal and specialized management. Thus it can lead in identifying what activity or food can be minimized to obtain the necessa ry result. In general, education brings awareness and can hence lead to better compliance.

Devil Slavery and Dr. Faust Essay Example for Free

Devil knuckle d bearry and Dr. Faust EssayDevil Slavery and Dr. Faust In the essay from Dr. Fausts Community, Culture, and Conflict on an Antebellum grove, she explores the balance of power between break ones back give birthers and their bondsmen, primarily, on the Hammond Plantation, notes bluff. She provide focus on quadruplet areas of research, pietism, make up patterns, and payments/privileges, flying attempts/rebellion and external influences. She maintains that there was an intricate communal order among the slaves of the silvern Bluff Plantation. Using primary and secondary sources I will either verify or disprove Dr. Fausts thesis. Dr.Faust has used the journal writings of pile Hammond as her main primary source for her essay. I will use Dr. Fausts essay for my secondary and writings from former slaves (primary) for my sources. As master of the plantation, Silver Bluff, James Hammond strived to gain complete falsify over every aspect of his slaves lives. It was a get by that spanned decades, and one he never fully realized. Through his journal entries we see the daily struggle for control, and the substance he used to uphold his authority. They too show how the slaves resisted Hammonds attempts charm holding on to their own society.Dr. Faust shows through Hammonds own words how he tried to control the slaves religion by replacing Black worship with White belief. (pg. 220) He number one tried by fetching external all Black church buildinges and forcing the slave to attend White churches. He then changed track by hiring traveling preachers for the slaves Sunday worship. In 1845 he built his own church on the plantation. He was prize for the conformity his slaves showed for the white social norms. However, his slaves had learned to show Hammond the behavior he cherished all the while belt up holding true to their own religious beliefs.Even after twenty years Hammond was still toilsome to eradicate the Blacks religion. Have ordered all church meetings to be broken up debar at the church with a white preacher. (pg. 220) To urinate Silver Bluff run more efficiently, Hammond wanted more control over the work habits of his slaves. For the first year he stepped up the discipline in regards to inferior or slack work. His slaves non being used to the strong-armed policies resisted. Hammond responded with more beatings. Over time the slaves conformed approximately as the physical penalization slowed. pg 221) A more efficient form of working was the gang method, so Hammond thought. This gang method took outside(a) what little independence the slaves had. No longer could they art objectage their own time. Hammond knew that by stripping the slaves of their right to order their own day he would have more control. Once once again the slaves resisted, by doing inferior work. (pg. 221) Over time a quiet compromise arose, and to or so extent work seemed to go back the way it used to be for the slaves. Hammon d also instituted a system of rewards to go on with the punishments. He felt that by offering something the slave wanted/ requisite he would have that slaves compliance that the slaves would work harder to obtain the reward. Here to, the slaves learned how to use this system for themselves. As punishment for a poor work season Hammond shortened the Christmas break scarcely as his journal shows for declination 26 persuaded out of my decision by the Negros (pg. 221) Like all plantations of the era, Silver Bluff had its share of escape attempts although no successful escapes were recorded. Through Hammonds writing Dr. Faust has devised a profile for the runaway. Most were young males without strong family ties. The live on played an important part in determining the length of time away. Female slaves only ran with their husbands or to their husbands. Once the slaves escaped they did not travel far, mostly stayed in nearby swamps. The plantation slaves would then jock the runaways by giving them supplies. At first Hammond sent men with horses and dogs out to search for the missing slaves, but after awhile he chose to just let others catch them , wait for them to end up in jail or wait for them to return on their own volition. Here too Hammond set some ground rules. If the slaves returned on their own they only received three lashes for each day gone, where as on the other hand if they were forcibly brought back the punishment was ten lashes for each day off of the plantation. Hammond also realized that the runaways and those slaves left behind still held close bonds. Based on this he also punish those still on the plantation. With holding food rations and beatings hoping that the runaway would hear of it and return on his own. (pg 223) What Hammond was really trying to do was to create a micro-world on his plantation where he was in charge and all else where his minions. His superlative fear was interference from the outside. To combat that he cut his slaves off from the outside, forbidding them to go to town, or from inter-acting with neighbors or the steamboat people. (pg. 223) As the war approached, he worried about which side his slaves were on. He felt that they were becoming soaked and uneasy. Thefts of goods appeared more common and Hammond thought his slaves demeanor was changing and not for the good. He could feel the loss of control slipping away as the cannons roar rolled over his Silver Bluff. The first primary source I chose was Sarah Fitzpatrick (1938) (Hollitz, Doc. ) Part of her interview dealt with the issue of religion. If they wanted to attend their own church they needed a pass to allow them off the plantation. Many slaves though attended church with their masters. The preacher in the white church would first tend to his white flock then after that benefit he would preach to the slaves. Telling the slaves that they must listen and behave their masters and by doing so they would splenetic get to heaven. They were also taught catechism. The slaves preferred to attend their own service for they would get joyful and loud and that was not allowed during the white soldierys service. This experience of Sarahs almost parallels what Hammond tried to do on Silver Bluff. I feel that this primary source supports Dr. Faust views on how religion was used as a rotating shaft to enforce the white mans way upon the Black there by peeling away a layer of their culture. The tosh of Brer Rabbit Outsmarts Brer fob (Hollitz, Doc. 10) I feel is an analogy for one of the slaves survival mechanism. In this story Brer Fox stops Brer Rabbit on his way to church. Brer Fox is hungry and wants to eat Brer Rabbit.Thinking fast Brer Rabbit tells Brer Fox that there are hogs at the mans house that would be better for his breakfast and if Brer Fox did not believe him, he would go over to be tied up till Brer Fox checked it out. Brer Fox found no hogs and the man let his dog resign on Brer Fox. The dogs hunted Brer Fox and ate him up. Brer Rabbit was set loose and thanked the dogs. I feel Brer Rabbit represents the slaves, Brer Fox is the master and the dogs can represent many things depending on the storys use. They might represent freedom, the war, or Heaven. Brer Rabbit used cunning and trickery to outsmart Brer Fox.The slaves needed to learn how to put one aspect on for the master while keeping their true face concealed. They needed to learn cunning and trickery to outsmart their masters at times In my opinon the text file also supports Dr. Fausts essay. It shows how the slaves learned to use the reward system that Hammond put in place to their own advantage. Also by slowing work up to get what they wanted. I chose my next primary source, (bloody shame Reynolds, Dallas Texas, ASN) because she was a slave from the deep south. She tells of her career from the time she was born up till the time of her interview. She eemed proud of the fact that she knew her father and the he was a free man who ch ose to live as a slave for the wonder of her mother who was a slave. She describes her life as a slave as a harsh one. being sold off because she was to close to the masters own child. When his daughter became ill and was told it was because his daughter was pining away for her Black friend the master relented and bought Mary back to the plantation. She tells of working the fields, not having enough food or proper clothing. She tells of the beatings she received from Solomon the overseer and how he kept a tight rein on the slaves. She explains how the runaways are tracked down and then punished All these experiences mirror plantation life at Silver Bluff and so once again supports Dr. Fausts thesis. What does not seem to support it though is Marys master allowed some of the slaves culture. at that place were marriage ceremonies and there were funerals and allowed outside contact. The pull round document I chose was an interview of a former slave whose master was a Creek Indian. ( Lucinda Davis Tulsa, Oklahoma,ASN). She tells her life story as if she were part of her masters extended family not like she was a slave. She was surface cared for, well fed and had clothes. Her only chore was to care for a young child. The slaves were allowed to marry and did not have to live on their masters farm. When the war was over and Lucinda parents wanted her back her master freely gave her up and sent her back. Her hardships did not seem any worse than any member of her masters family. This document does not support Dr. Fausts thesis. Maybe it is because the slave group was smaller and mostly men. There was no strife so they did not bond as the slaves on Hammonds plantation did.
